The 19th Zurich Marathon,  2st Halfmarathon (Break for 11th  Teamrun) and 10th  Cityrun will take place on Sunday, 10. April 2022.

Birthday children from April 10, 2022 beware: There is a marathon free start!

You have nothing planned for your birthday on 10 April? How about 42,195 km running?
We have a premature gift for all birthday children who want to compete in the 42.195 km alone at the 19th Zurich Marathon. On your special day your starting place is at our expense. As a marathon runner, you can redeem your free starting place at info(at)


Broom wagon

At the end of the marathon runners' field (42.195km / closing time 5.30h) a broom wagon will travel from miles.

Cloakrooms / showers

On Sunday from 6:30 am – 3:00 pm in the Mythenquai bathing establishment (near the start / finish).

Clothing depot

The way to the clothes depot in the starting area is marked. Please use only the official garment bag of the Zurich Marathon with the corresponding adhesive number (corresponds to start number). You will receive both with your start number.
On the start number there is a coupon for the garment bag. With this coupon, the relatives or friends of the runners can pick up the garment bag from 9:30 am to 15:00 pm at the Landiwiese / Badi Mythenquai.

Company / Team Ranking

The team / company ranking requires at least 3 runners but also more runners are allowed. At the end of the run the first three runners’ times will be cumulated and ranked. The entry fee will be calculated per person. Together you can run the 10km Cityrun  or the half marathon with 21.1 km and motivate each other to complete your run along Lake Zurich or through the heart of the city. Motivate your team members now to join the run!

Cut Off

The time limit of 5:30 hours (net timekeeping) applies in the marathon, 75 minutes (net timekeeping) in the city run and 2:35 hours (net timekeeping) in the half marathon. Participants who do not reach the destination within the given time will not be classified.



Disqualification is ordered to anyone who does not wear a start number runs with a pre-coded transponder, takes shortcuts, is accompanied by a vehicle (bicycle, inline skates, etc.), starts in the wrong starting block, does not transfer to the prescribed transition zone or starts too early.


Early abandonment

  • Please wait for one of the broom wagons.

  • The sea rescue services of Zollikon and Küsnacht offer runners the return journey by ship to the finish area. The marshals will send the runners to the berths of the Seerettungsdienste - see also signposts on site. There, the paramedics or relatives of the Seerettungsdienst members care for the runners.

  • Or ask a helper who will gladly explain the way to the nearest S-Bahn station.

  • Sanitary posts are located at each food station and at the start / finish area.

  • To act fast in an emergency, it is important that you fill in the requested information on the back of your start number!

Finisher diploma

A personal diploma is available to every finisher and finisher team free of charge after the race on (download via the ranking list).


Finisher Photos

Photographers will photograph you at selected photo points on the course and at the finish. Give us a smile and look forward to beautiful participant pictures of you and your friends. From Monday after the Zurich Marathon, the photos can be viewed and ordered or purchased.


Finisher shirt marathon

All Marathon (42.195km) finishers receive a functional shirt in return for their transponder in the finish area. There is a lady's and a man's cut.


There are a total of twelve food posts along the route. The first is at kilometre 3.5 – then about every 3.5 km up to the finish.

After the finish, all participants will receive meals and drinks.





For the first time there will be a half marathon for the first time for the Zurich marathon. The risks surrounding the corona pandemic are too high at team run.


As in previous years, Zurich City Hotels offer special marathon terms such as breakfast from 5:30 am and room return at 3:00 pm, for the marathon runners of the 18th Zurich Marathon.

The Marathon / Halfmarathon / Cityrun is over a very flat course.

Lost property

Medical help

At the start / finish and at each food station along the route, a medical post is set up and marked. In emergencies, please inform the next marshal immediately, so that he can do everything necessary via the emergency number. At the finish an emergency centre is set up. So that we can respond quickly in emergencies, please fill in the information requested on the back of the start number.

Meeting Point

The information stand in the start / finish area serves as a meeting place for runners, friends and relatives.

The meeting point for the four runners is the crossroads of the General-Wille-Str. and the Breitingerstrasse. From here, the teams are allowed to enter the Teamrun finish together. With the SMS service of the Zürcher Kantonalbank you know exactly when the fourth team member will be at the meeting point. If he passes the timing mat at km 38, you will receive an SMS.

Never walk alone

For the sixth time, PluSport will start with various athletes and teams at the 18th Zurich Marathon. This year, the «never walk alone» runs have a special star, PluSport celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2020. You can be there when integration through sport is in the foreground and run the marathon, city run or team run in the category «never walk alone». Your entry fee will be paid by PluSport's official partners.

Pace makers

Experienced marathon pacemakers accompany the runners for end times of 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00 and 5:30 hours. These will run with a green beach flag with the appropriate end time. All pacemakers use a GPS, so you're guaranteed to arrive at the destination at the right time.

Experienced halfmarathon pacemakers accompany the runners for end times of 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00 und 2:15 hours. These will run with a green beach flag with the appropriate end time. All pacemakers use a GPS, so you're guaranteed to arrive at the destination at the right time.

Presentation ceremony

The award ceremonies take place at the finisher area «Enge Hafendamm».

The runners entitled to the prize awarding ceremony will be notified by SMS (in addition, a list of the authorised persons will be posted on the leader board in the finish area).

We ask the podium finishers of the respective race for their participation in the award ceremony. Medals and prizes will not be forwarded.

Public Transport

All participants of the marathon benefit from a free public transport ride in the 2. th grade to Zurich Enge and back via GA sectional routes via the usual route incl. Transfer Zurich HB - Zurich Wollishofen.


All participants of the half marathon and city run benefit from the free ride in all zones in the Zurich Transport Association in the 2. th grade.

Should, contrary to expectations, Zurich Marathon 2022 not be able to take place, we guarantee to transfer your registration to 2023.

In case of a re-registration for a shorter distance, e.g. from the marathon to the half marathon, there is no right to a refund.


During the registration phase, registration can be rewritten to another person or distance. Contact customer service for this.

When your bib number is issued, you will receive your unique functional shirt. You must start in this T-shirt on Cityrun.

Start Marathon Mythenquai: 08.00 a.m.

The city centre is closed from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. The following tramlines are affected by the marathon: 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 13 as well as bus lines 161, 165, 910 and 912. The Seestrasse between Meilen and the City of Zurich is closed until 2:30 pm. There are no parking spaces available.


Transponder (time measurement)

The transponder with the Velcro is the team tape. This is used for timing. It must be attached to the wrist or ankle and handed over in the transition zones.

The time in the transition zones is not stopped.

There are a large number of mobile toilets in the start / finish area. Mobile toilets are deposited along the route at every food / sanitary post and in the area of ​​transition zones. In the city of Zurich and in the lake communities, the public toilets are free of charge for the participants. A marshal can help you with the next location of a toilet.
